Fun cones competition, Sun 28th December 2009, Penybont, Powys.
Another successful cones event organised by Mike Davies provided an afternoon of fun and gave everyone a chance to enjoy a flowing course with good accuracy needed for the turns and off set slalom. After walking the course and practising in the carriages , the two best scores of three runs produced the final placings.
Afterwards a tighter course with a box was set up for everyone to try several times. Jackie’s hot mulled wine was the much appreciated prize for all the competitors and helpers with special mention going to new members Stephanie and Mark who have been invaluable timekeepers at each cones event.
Ponies and drivers have really grown in confidence and accuracy since the first event and are now keen to continue with a new series on indoor fun cones sessions starting in October.
Consistent winner at every event has been Andrew and Jackie Bevan’s lovely young coloured gelding ‘ Jack’.
Best improved cones driver is Jackie Cartwright with her magnificent stallion Just ToTo. He performed beautifully in his new light weight four wheeler.
Youngest driver Erinna Rogers with her recently broken super section C Ranger has been bringing him on slowly , long reining first before starting to drive her new pony very sympathetically round the course to build his confidence.
