BDS Wales Show, Carmarthen, 16th August 2009.
Two Powys turnouts enjoyed the full range of classes offered by this busy show dedicated to carriage driving – with a ring devoted to grass roots drivers as well as a second ring for Private Driving. For the first time the show was a HOYS qualifier and this attracted a prestigious array of Private Driving entries.
Long reining through cones and driven cones classes were held during the judges’ lunch break.
With so many different classes on offer it would be an excellent show to try to get to in 2010.
Anthea Birch enjoyed success with her lovely Section A pony Meilen Tornado winning the country vehicle class with her smart turnout and Rhian Ralph took the reins to enjoy several classes , being third in the Young Drivers to a Traditional Vehicle. She was also second in the long reining class through the cones.
Emily Ham with Section C Crossfield Glory had a grand day out – winning the 13.2 and under Private Driving class , the Registered Welsh class, The Long reining and the driven cones, they were 2nd in Lady Whip and 3rd in the Open Private Driving and Concours D’Elegance. As well as winning the Points Championship they clinched the Reserve Welsh Championship. Emily was very grateful to BDS member Andy Nicholson who stepped in at very short notice to be her busy groom in the show ring.
